Ren Jianxin, general manager of ChemChina, and Lu Xiaobao, general manager of Bluestar, went to Australia to visit Qenos’s olefin plant in Altona.
They listened to reports by Jonathan Clancy, CEO of Qenos, and his management on the company’s plan to expand business. They also carried out field research on the recently built unit that had a total investment of 195 million Australian dollars ($174.28 million). Andrew Lake, director of operations of Qenos, and Duncan Laslett, director of the olefin plant, gave an elaborate introduction of the project, including the ethylene purifying column, compressor and 21-megawatt combined heat and power generation. They said that the project can supply electricity and steam for the whole Altona plant and continue to keep Qenos’s capacity of polyethylene and petrochemicals in top place in Australia.
In the end, Ren Jianxin expressed his satisfaction over Botany Plant’s 12 years of effective operation and the fact that its overhaul plan was deferred to 2015. On behalf of ChemChina, Ren spoke highly of Peter Beattie, director of the plant, and his team members.
