May 9, 2014, marked the 10th anniversary of the founding of ChemChina. In the morning, Ren Jianxin, ChemChina’s general manager, and officials from ChemChina, specialty companies and subsidiaries gathered in front of the ChemChina building to take a group picture as a simple way of celebrating the 10th anniversary.
Ten years ago, ChemChina was established and began business after receiving the State Council’s approval. It has embarked on an extraordinary development journey ever since. Through the joint efforts of Ren and all employees, ChemChina upholds the development idea of “traditional chemical business and new materials” and has achieved leapfrog development. Its assets grew from 32.59 billion yuan ($5.23 billion) 10 years ago to 293.67 billion yuan in 2013. Sales revenue also jumped from 21.4 billion yuan to 244.02 billion yuan, becoming a Fortune 500 company and China’s biggest basic chemical enterprise. With the development and expansion of the company, ChemChina employees also gained individual growth and progress.
In front of the board, where a tree showed ChemChina’s development path, everyone took pictures to remember the moment. The towering tree on the red board was dotted with pictures of employees from ChemChina to all third-tier subsidiaries, from domestic branches to those abroad, from the old generation to the new one. The pictures reflected not only ChemChina’s development and achievements over the past 10 years, but also the vigor of the company’s future. On that day, everyone also received a magazine in celebration of the anniversary. The magazine featured the feelings of many employees over the 10 years of development as well as photos showcasing differences and changes over the period, giving people pause for thought.
ChemChina’s 10-year growth and development resembles a tree, which is deeply rooted in fertile soil and is growing into a plant with luxuriant foliage.
Ren shared the contents on the board with employees and encouraged them to leave the past in the past, start anew and get ready for the next 10 years. He said that today is a milestone in ChemChina’s development and a new starting point, and all chemical people should continue to follow the path of the new economy and deepened reform to jointly build a better tomorrow for ChemChina.
