ChemChina came in at 276th on the latest Fortune 500 list, the fourth consecutive year that it has made the list, and up 79 places from last year. The threshold was also up this year by $500 million, to $23.7 billion. In all, 100 Chinese companies, from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan made the list, seven of them for the first time, putting China in just second place, behind the US, which has 128. There were also 27 companies that were dropped from the list, such as Dell, Abbott, and Ricoh. This list is the most prestigious of its kind in denoting the strength of companies everywhere, attracting a lot of attention globally.
