At the Victoria Day Ceremony, on July 1, in the Melbourne Town Hall, marking the anniversary of the State of Victoria, Australia, Qenos had the honor of being named a Good Corporate Citizen of the Year.
This also happened to be Qenos’ 15th anniversary, as it was founded in 1999, so, ChemChina’s general manager, Ren Jianxin, sent a congratulatory note to Qenos, saying, “This is indeed an extraordinary day for Qenos, not just because of the anniversary, but because of its Good Corporate Citizen of the Year award. This is supreme recognition for Qenos, which has followed ChemChina’s core values – creating jobs for society and creating value for shareholders. This achievement is the result of all of Qenos’ staff and I am very pleased.”
Accepting the award was Jonathan Clancy, CEO of Qenos, who explained, “The work we do in being a great corporate citizen is extensive. First and foremost it is our responsibility to be "World class" in safety and environmental performance and having the ability to add value to the local community through investments, such as last year’s $200-million expansion project, is so important for building confidence. As one of the largest employers in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Qenos has created a better community with better living standards.”
Qenos also supports many local organizations, such as kindergartens, schools, universities and sporting groups and, so Clancy goes on to say, “A special thank you to my Qenos team and the people who are responsible for work done in our community. I’m very proud to accept this award on behalf of Qenos which inspired disadvantaged youth and experienced operators who raise funds for charities.”
When Ren learned that Clancy was confirmed as president and chairman of the Plastics and Chemicals Industry Association for Australia and New Zealand, he commented, “This new post is not only an honor, but also means you will have more responsibilities for the development of Qenos as well as the Plastics and Chemicals Association and I believe that, with your foresight and sagacity, you can perform well in this new role. Please convey my deepest congratulations and best regards to Qenos management and all the staff.”
