On March 6, 2015, ChemChina organized a rap session among women staff representatives, with the theme of “Women not Outperformed by Men in Quality and Efficiency Improvement”, to celebrate the March 8 International Women's Day in advance. Nearly 20 representatives of women employees from ChemChina, specialized companies and entities directly under the Group located in Beijing joined in the rap session. Prior to the rap session, each representative received a gift for the Women’s Day, a rose specially prepared by the Group Company.
At the session, all attendees spoke up enthusiastically about their own work. Among them, some are newly employed young women and some are “long-time” employees with ChemChina. They introduced their own work and life status, put forward reasonable suggestions and had discussions on how to step up efforts to adapt to the new normal of economic development, on how to bring into play women’s strengths in quality and efficiency improvement, a central task ChemChina set forth at the annual work conference, and on how to properly handle family and work.
A majority of the women staff representatives indicated that women are careful, patient and rigorous so that they are not outperformed by men in producing financial statistics and statistics of operation data and in collecting information. They can more than “hold up half of the sky” when it comes to service delivery, communication and coordination since they are quite easy to get along with. Still, they admitted that in certain regards they fall behind and need to learn from their male colleagues. The women employees are mostly married, with children. They play important roles at home and work, shouldering significant responsibilities. On how to properly handle family and work, many representatives shared their brilliant ideas. They meant that women should have mature thinking rather than girlish thoughts, should be more understanding, should get along with family members and colleagues with a grateful attitude and indefatigable patience, should be brave to take their duty, should prioritize family harmony and handle work in an as accommodating spirit as at home. Representatives from the PR Department expressed their gratitude to ChemChina for the broad stage and development space it offers women staff to unfold their talent in and for the opportunities it offers women employees to compete with male employees on an equal footing. The PR Department works as a closely bonded team. In everyday work they tend to pool wisdom for mutual benefit, not only manifesting the team’s strength, but also benefiting each member of the team. The young women staff representatives indicated that to join in the rap session proved to be a rewarding experience whether for accomplishing their share of work or improving their own quality. They showed they would continue to learn from the role models in future. Some representatives sincerely suggested that training should be intensified, women should have more medical examinations, and waste of water should be reduced.
As the March 8 International Women’s Day is drawing near, Chairman Ren Jianxin and General Manager Yang Xingqiang of ChemChina have extended festival greetings and best wishes to all women employees in the company, expressed gratitude for their contributions to the company, and highly appreciated their achievements.
The enterprises under ChemChina have also in these days staged colorful activities to celebrate the March 8 International Women’s Day, where many women staff representatives have shared their constructive suggestions on enterprise development.
