On December 3 at the 8th Golden Bee International Seminar for China Corporate Social Responsibility Reports jointly hosted by China WTO Tribune and China Business Council for Sustainable Development, the 2014 Sustainable Development Report of ChemChina won the 2015 Golden Bee Outstanding CSR Award for leading enterprises.
As one of the most influential awards in the CSR field in China, the award was presented to 12 enterprises this year including ICBC, China Telecom, ChemChina, CECEP, China Resources, CGNPC, China Merchants Group, COFCO, China Shipping, Baosteel, Norinco Group, and CEC.
The main reason for ChemChina to win the award is that its 2014 CSR report systematically summarized the company’s CSR concept, practice and performance in such areas as operation, management, technological innovation, production safety, environmental protection, employee growth, and social harmony. Based on the concept of CSR management and focusing on the development of green chemical industry and some other hot topics, the report earnestly responds to the concerns and demands of stakeholders. Clear in structure and rich in content, it is widely considered to be an excellent sustainable development report of a truly leading enterprise.
A total of 2265 CSR reports had been issued by enterprises in the Chinese Mainland as of the end of October 2015, of which 1755 were systematically evaluated and analyzed from six dimensions: readability of the report, innovativeness of the report, credibility of the report, structural integrity of the report, substantiveness of the report, and comparability of performance. In addition to professional assessment by the expert team, this year a public evaluation process was adopted for the first time in order to enhance the fairness and transparency of assessment. Nine public assessors participated in assessing these CSR reports, who signed up for this activity by means of Wechat. Through the entire process of review, re-check, preliminary assessment, and reassessment, the 2014 Sustainable Development Report of ChemChina finally won the award.
