Zhonghao Chengrand and Three Other Companies Win National Science Awards

On January 8, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council jointly held the State Science and Technology Award Conference. State leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan and Zhang Gaoli attended the conference and granted the State Natural Science Award, the State Technological Invention Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award of the People’s Republic of China to representatives of the award winners. Four projects led or participated in by Zhonghao Chengrand Institute, ChemChina Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Changsha Institute, and Aeolus Tyre Co., Ltd. respectively won three National Science and Technology Progress Awards and one State Technological Invention Award.

There are in total five state science and technology prizes in China, namely, the State Supreme Science and Technology Award, the State Natural Science Award, the State Technological Invention Award, the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award. In 2015, the State Supreme Science and Technology Award remained vacant, the State Natural Science Award was granted to 42 projects, the State Technological Invention Award to 66 projects, and the National Science and Technology Progress Award to 187 projects. The projects winning second prize of the 2015 National Science and Technology Progress Award include "New Technology Development for Industrialized Production of Organic Fluorine Monomer and High-performance Polymer" with Zhonghao Chengrand taking the lead, “Industrial Application of Cold Recycling RFCC Unit” participated in by ChemChina Petrochemical, and "High-efficiency Utilization Technology for Low-grade Sylvite in Qinghai Salt Lakes" participated in by the Changsha Institute. And “Key Technology for the Design and Preparation of High-performance Rubber Nano-composites for Oil-saving Tyres” participated in by Aeolus Tyre, won second prize of the State Technological Invention Award 2015.

Through systematic research on reaction mechanisms, polymerization techniques, key equipment and engineering technologies, the research team of  "New Technology Development for Industrialized Production of Organic Fluorine Monomer and High-performance Polymer" developed tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoromethyl vinyl ether and three other high-purity, high-performance organic fluorine monomers, as well as two series of fluorine polymers, namely special fluorine resin and fluorine rubber. The research outcome has been applied to mass production with clean production achieved by adopting environment-friendly industrial technologies such as plasma treatment of organic fluorine waste.
