Recently, the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between China Agricultural University (CAU) and ChemChina was held at ChemChina’s Headquarters. Sun Qixin, President of CAU, and Yang Xingqiang, General Manager of ChemChina, attended the meeting and exchanged views on the strategic cooperation between schools and enterprises. Li Zhaohu, Vice President of CAU, and Fan Xiaosen, Deputy General Manager of ChemChina, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides respectively. During the discussion before the signing of the agreement, Sun Qixin and Yang Xingqiang conducted exchanges on the need of working together to develop technological innovation in agriculture and serve national strategies in the new era.
CAU and ChemChina's Syngenta have cooperated with each other for nearly 20 years. They have achieved fruitful results in plant protection research, seed research, and personnel training. As such, CAU and ChemChina have conducted productive consultations and reached important intentions, thereby defining the basic framework for strategic cooperation.
Sun Qixin introduced the current progress of CAU’s planning in cooperating with Beijing National Science and Innovation Center and Xiong'an New District. He pointed out that CAU attaches great importance to the cooperation with ChemChina. He also expected that the two sides would complement each other and play an important supporting role in the technological innovation of modern agriculture centering on seeds and plant protection industry and underpinned by green development. Also, both sides will play a crucial role jointly in developing key technologies and preventing major safety issues of agricultural industry during the transition period of agricultural development.
Yang Xingqiang presented that CAU, the origin of China's modern agricultural higher education, leads China’s research in the high-tech fields of biology and agriculture. In particularly, it boasts abundant resources and has scored remarkable results in modern agriculture and biotechnology. As such, it becomes a natural partner of ChemChina in the agricultural sector, and the strategic cooperation will be a model for the deep integration of enterprises, universities, and institutes. Under the framework of strategic collaboration, ChemChina will promote the exploration and utilization of genetic resources and the in-depth cooperation in plant protection, seed technology, crop management technologies, animal nutrition additives, and R&D of the new feed. It will also advance more projects and cooperation of Syngenta and CAU through more channels. The two sides need to produce the synergistic effects of their respective advantages and resources to make more technological achievements to better serve the industry in a faster way. Yang Xingqiang said that ChemChina and Syngenta are actively responding to the National Science and Technology Innovation Center, especially the agricultural technology innovation section. They are willing to work with CAU to create a national agricultural technology innovation platform. They also hope to join together with CAU to undertake major special projects of the national seed-industry innovation program 2030, so as to make significant contributions to the national seed-industry innovation.
