The 2017 Sustainable Development Report of ChemChina is the Corporation’s 8th annual sustainable development report. It systematically discloses ChemChina’s CSR concept, practice, and performance in 2017 in such areas as operation management, technological innovation, environmental protection, production safety, win-win partnership, employee development, and social harmony, reviews its footprints in reform, innovation, and sustainable development, and demonstrates its commitment to creating a better life together with all stakeholders.
As usual, the report still focuses on three themes — “operation management based on the belief of new science; technological innovation as new impetus for development; creation of a shared harmonious future through win-win development.” While maintaining the continuity of the framework, it has upgraded the connotation of CSR and elaborated on the Corporation’s CSR practice and achievements in promoting management transformation, innovation-driven development, green operation, and building a responsible supply chain. By setting up special topics on CSR and with a combination graphical and textual contents, the report unfolds the endeavors of ChemChina to serve the national rural revitalization strategy.
In accordance with the GRI Sustainable Development Reporting Standard, the report discloses the Corporation’s communication with governments at various levels, customers, employees, suppliers, environmental organizations, and other stakeholders as well as its CSR practices in related fields. In response to the 17 sustainable development goals set by the United Nations for 2030, the report demonstrates ChemChina’s commitment to and confidence in serving global sustainable development in each chapter. It also shows the efforts of the Corporation to promote information technology, drive technological development in the industry, implement carbon asset management, strengthen supplier management, support staff growth, and disseminate chemical knowledge, echoing stakeholders’ concerns on such issues as information security, industry promotion, response to climate change, supplier management, employee development, and chemical industry serving people’s life.
