Just before May Day, Wang Dazhuang, deputy general manager of the China Bluestar Co. and general manager and Party secretary of the Shenyang Chemical Group, and Xiang Xuesong, a Truck Tire Plant molder at Aeolus Tire Co, Ltd’s Manufacturing Division No. 1, both received the National Labor Medal.
Wang was recognized for having led company staff in overcoming all sorts of difficulties, and having taken advantage of opportunities, promoting key projects, and encouraging innovation. The company has seen rapid economic growth after spending more than 5 billion yuan on major projects, and adjusting the product structure and economic scale. Sales have increased 3.8-fold, and profits, 3.5-fold. Employees’ incomes have also seen an increase. Shenyang Chemical Group is up on top in taxes paid to the city of Shenyang and to Liaoning province for four years running. It has also made a significant contribution to local economic development.
Although the 39-year-old Xiang has been a regular molder at the Truck Tire Plant since joining the company in 1995, he has lived an extraordinary life in those 16 years: a common molder, but one with fortitude and devotion to the job. From 2002 to 2010, he made 245,938 tires with various specifications, or 113,053 more than was expected.
His evaluation showed him at all reached 100 percent in three quality indicators –raw tire qualified rate, first-class product rate, and cross-section analysis. He has held the Top Star Employee title for eight years running and the Excellent Party Member award for the city of Jiaozuo for six straight years. He also got the May Day Labor Medal from Jiaozuo in 2004, and Model Worker award from the city in 2005.
In addition, Xiang has taken first prize in the Molding Competition of Sinopec’s companies in Henan province, and been given the Model Technician of Henan Province title. In 2008, he was awarded May Day Labor Medal in Henan and was recognized as the Top Staff Member in Jiaozuo. In 2010, he took part in Sinopec’s 2nd Party Congress. And he is the only employee to have won the Star Employee title for eight straight years.
