Recently, Anhui Huaihe Chemical has strived for a low-carbon economy and “green” chemical business, and has become the only industrial enterprise in the city that has received the honor of Jiangsu’s Low-carbon Economy Model Company.
As the world’s largest MNT and MNT derivatives company, Huaihe Chemical, because of its adjacency to Hongze Lake, has paid much attention to its environmental protection work. Its cooperation with many renowned academic institution and universities and its investment of more than 100 million yuan have all gone to the treatment of wastewater and fumes that come out in the production process. In addition to capping the amount of pollutants, the company has assigned special staff members to sample and analyze discharges and biochemical effluents. An analysis center is set up to watch the water sample, so that all the pollutant discharging can be controlled at all hours. The workers also bring up a lot of good advices on how to optimize production route and how to reinforce management. Among them, 355 pieces of advice have been put to use, saving 5 million yuan a year, and they help to reduce 86 tons of COD, 54 tons of carbon dioxide and 110 tons of fumes every year.
Huaihe Chemical is also continuing its renovation of boiler, energy optimization and MNT and nitric acid systems. In terms of management, the company has calculated into the economic responsibility system the COD index, energy saving and pollutant discharges. It has also constructed a corporate culture of low-carbon economy and environment protection to hammer home the importance to its employees.
