On May 3rd, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the opening ceremony of the Shanxi-Nairit joint venture in China's Shanxi Province. The plant is expected to yield an estimated 30,000 tons of chloroprene rubber per year. Ren Jianxin, president of ChemChina, and Foreign Minister of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, were present at the ceremony.
The Shanxi-Nairit venture was established on the basis of a contract signed between the Shanxi Synthetic Rubber Group Company and the Nairit closed-type joint-stock company in 2003. The two parties cooperatively launched the project to build a chloroprene rubber plant with a production capacity of 30,000 tons per year.
The joint plant is one of Armenia’s largest partnership projects. The Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources expressed his high expectations for the project.
Ren Jianxin said ChemChina will give support to Shanxi-Nairit and help expand and develop its production capacity. It is hoped to build a conservation-oriented and environment-friendly enterprise with joint efforts.
After the opening ceremony, Armenian President Sargsyan planted a pine tree with other guests, symbolizing everlasting friendship between the two parties.
