The quench boiler system, a technology package combining a combustion system, linear quench boiler and a low NOX emissions bottom combustor (burner) for a pyrolysis furnaces for ethylene production, which is designed and developed by Tianhua Institute of Chemical Machinery & Automation, has been used in the million-ton ethylene project in Tianjin.

This project and its supporting program is part of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development. It is also a landmark project of Tianjin’s building of a petrochemical industry base and developing Binhai New Area. The low NOX emissions bottom combustor (burner) for pyrolysis furnaces developed by Tianhua Institute realized nationalization of pyrolysis furnaces for ethylene production and combustion systems, which could change China’s long-standing reliance on importing bottom combustors.

The Tianhua Institute is specializing in the research & development of ethylene cracking technology and equipment. It is also one of China’s first three domestic CBL Cracking Furnace developers.

The Tianhua Nanjing Equipment Institute has the edge in numerical simulation and experimental study of quench boiler systems and combustion systems. Based on communicating with advanced technologies in the world, Tianhua Nanjing Equipment Institute has successfully developed quench boiler technology and burner technology, which won a number of National Science and Technology Progress Award and Technological Progress Award as well as 10 ized patents. At present, around 400 quench boilers and 2,000 cracking furnace boilers are used in several petrochemical companies in China.
