Some of the China National Bluestar (Group) Co’s major enterprises have been improving their DCS automatic control average, with 16 bringing the level to 85.5 percent and hitting the group’s target six months ahead of schedule. At 10 of the enterprises, the automatic control level is above 85 percent, meaning Bluestar has already met the ChemChina goal of bringing the level to 80 percent.

To raise its automatic control level, Bluestar invited a doctorate in automatic control to run two training sessions over a six-day period, with more than 100 employees taking part. There were also special teleconference training courses on the optimal use of steam boilers, theory of rectification towers, and estimates and accounting on project efficiency. And, in view of the increased voltage sag during the summer, a special lecture on the basic principles of voltage sag was added.

These training sessions helped the automatic control teams get a better grasp of the application and theory of technology, and of ways to improve its uses. Bluestar then came up with a monthly plan on raising the automatic control level and provided technical assistance and guidance to its enterprises. It followed the plan’s progress month by month. To deal with any of the enterprises’ problems, ChemChina and Bluestar asked experts to provide some on-the-spot instructions and arranged an instant messaging group to help deal with automatic control and improve efficiency.
