The Sichuan Bluestar Machinery Co and Sichuan University have opened a State-level engineering education and practice center. This is the only center of its kind in Deyang, which is known as a heavy-equipment manufacturing base.
Sichuan Bluestar received funding from Sichuan University to begin construction work on the education center, on Oct 8, marking its official beginning. Sichuan Bluestar is a partner in work on the country’s first group of engineering education centers.
This center is an example of the possible cooperation between a company and a university and could help improve students of engineering and turn out more highly qualified engineers. It is also considered a model of engineering education and practice. After a year of practice at the center, students will have a greater understanding of engineering practice, design, and innovation. The company and university will make evaluation plans to check the quality of the education.
Professor Wang Jie, dean of Sichuan University’s School of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, signed the cooperation agreement on the center with Sichuan Bluestar, on Sept 28 and Sichuan Bluestar said it could guarantee the work and operations of the State-level education center.
After it is completed, the center will mean convenience for students in getting a practice education, with proper dormitories and offices, and will have professional technicians to do the teaching. Sichuan Bluestar plans to accept 8-10 students from Sichuan University’s School of Manufacturing Science and Engineering each year and hopes to increase cooperation and exchanges with the school to improve its own technology level, and attract more talented students.
