The Sichuan Bluestar Machinery Co has been paying more attention to invention and patented technology in recent years and has made intellectual property rights a part of company strategy and its 12th Five-year Development Plan. Over the past three years, it has applied for 48 patents, with 28 of them approved. It has also encouraged its employees to take a more vigorous part in company innovations, and has increased intellectual property rights protection and paid more attention to patent applications. In doing so, it has invited patent experts to lecture on the subject and help increase employee awareness of the need for patent protections. Its science and technology department followed the company’s progress in major R&D projects closely and has applied for many patents, some of them arising out of R&D on such new products as a chilling-type of dry pulverized-coal pressurized gasifier, a liquid counter-current heat exchange urea synthesizer, a dual-pressure nitric-acid absorber tower, fine titanium leaching ball, and some alloy-steel railway frogs.
