When the 2012 list of key new, high-tech enterprises that are part of the nation’s Torch Plan was announced recently, the Yiyang Rubber and Plastics Machinery (Group) Co was on it.

It is using the corporate technology center for this, as well as the post-doctorate work sites and Hunan rubber and plastics R&D center. Its E-type internal mixer, with patented-technology for the rotor and hydraulic ram, has been exported to Italy, Germany and other countries. And, its plate vulcanizing press unit is an industry leader, with a 70-percent domestic market share, and has been exported to top rubber companies in Japan and Brazil. And, three of the global Top 5 rubber companies are using “Yiyang” brand plate vulcanizing presses. Meanwhile, 60 percent of its high-precision, mechanic vulcanizing press, and high-precision hydraulic tire vulcanizing press, which use technology from Japan’s Kobe Steel, are bought by leading tire companies around the world, making Yiyang Rubber and Plastics Machinery a long-term supplier.
The company now holds more than 100 patents on technology and has helped draft industrial and technical standards for several products. Its own products have won ministerial and provincial science and technology awards and new product awards. In 2011, it ranked seventh among the world’s rubber and plastics machinery manufacturers.
After the company was added to the list of new, high-tech enterprises that are part of the Torch Plan, it became eligible for a 15-percent corporate income tax exemption and qualifies for grants and subsidies for new, high-tech enterprises, and can also undertake government-sponsored new, high-tech R&D projects. All of this will of course help the company improve its technological capability.
