The China Bluestar Lehigh Engineering Corp’s 1.2-million-ton potassium sulfate project at the Lop Nur salt lake recently won a national silver medal for the 2011-2012 period. This is the second award Lehigh has been given by the National Engineering Construction Quality Review Committee. The previous one was for scientific and technological progress in 2012.
Work on the 1.2-million-ton potassium sulfate project began in April 2006 as a key national project under the 11th Five-year Plan and one of the 12 major projects in west China.
There was a trial run, in November 2008 with good results and operations beginning in 2011.
