Xi’an Lishan Automobile Factory has actively responded to the Xi’an government’s call to treat pollution and fog. It recently successfully took down two coal-fired boilers and plans to invest more than 1 million yuan ($162,974) to build a gas heating system for daily use.
The two boilers were put into use in 1988 and were mainly used as a drying oven in the coating department. The plant’s leadership paid special attention to the dismantlement, and local officials also came to check the plant many times to discuss the renovation plan. Eventually, they determined the schedule, team and plan for the project. It was ultimately completed on time, thanks to the hard work of the employees.
The dismantled boilers had been running for more than 20 years and consumed 5,000 tons of coal a year. After the replacement, dust emissions will be cut by 21.7 tons, waste gas by 44.65 million standard cubic meters and sulfur dioxide by 55.7 tons.
