The Green Industry Conference 2013, jointly held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, was held in Guangzhou from Nov 7-9. The conference aims to speed up the construction of the green industry and boost coordinated development between industry and ecology. Since 2009, the UNIDO has held the conference twice a year to strengthen cooperation and exchanges among all countries to promote low carbon development. The first two sessions were held in Manila and Tokyo.
Chen Changzhi, vice-chairman of the NPC Standing Committee; Miao Wei, minister of the MIIT; Su Bo, vice minister of the MIIT; Li Yong, secretary-general of the UNIDO; and Zhu Xiaodan, governor of Guangdong province, attended the meeting. Five-hundred people were present, including representatives from nearly 40 of China’s major industrial departments, companies, scholars and officials.
Wang Feng, chairman of Aeolus, made a speech about green manufacturing to upgrade the industry. He introduced basic information about Aeolus, analyzed the Chinese tire industry, and explored possible paths for green development and the upgrade of China’s tire industry. He detailed the whole process of green manufacturing from raw materials to product performance and proposed construction of a global green industrial chain. Wang’s speech was widely praised by participants.
Aeolus was one of the only two Chinese companies invited to give a speech, and the only one from the petrochemical industry. The company’s innovation in green manufacturing and industry upgrade was recommended at the conference. The UN spoke highly of Aeolus’s green manufacturing and transformation. Aeolus has helped convey the green development concepts and innovative practices of Chinese companies to the world, uplifting China’s image.
In recent years, Aeolus has continued transforming. It was the first domestic brand appointed by China Grand Rally (CGR), the world-class auto rally. The company was also the first to achieve pollution-free emissions and 100 percent green manufacturing of radial tires without discrimination. It is the only tire company so far that has been accredited as resource-saving and environmentally friendly in the industry. It was named an advanced unit for industrialization and informatization by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association , and the only one in the tire industry to make the list of China’s 100 most valuable brands.
The conference gathered government officials, experts, representatives of industrial associations and companies from all around the world. It focused on the experiences of successful green development cases, clean production, policy challenges and opportunities. Participants had a good exchange on policy, business and technology in green industries.
