Recently, the 8th Hou Debang Chemical Industry Science and Technology Award, organized by the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, has announced its winners in Beijing. Deputy chief engineer Li Jinke from the Tianhua Institute of Chemical Machinery & Automation won the innovation award.
Li has been with Tianhua Institute for more than 20 years and made remarkable achievements and contribution in research & development and innovation. The combustor for one 100,000-ton cracking furnace whose research and design he completed for the one-million-ton ethylene project in Tianjin worked at the first trial; the 1,104 combustors whose research and design he led for the 800,000-ton ethylene project of Wuhan Petrochemical worked at the first trial in 2013; the low NOx combustor he developed reaches the world advanced level and is used by many petrochemical companies with its domesticated technology. The linear quench boiler for the cracking furnace he developed reaches the world advanced level and is applied to the 800,000-ton ethylene project of Wuhan Petrochemical, one-million-ton ethylene project in Tianjin, one-million-ton ethylene project in Zhenhai, one-million-ton ethylene project in Huizhou (with design and manufacturing completed) and other ethylene projects for energy conservation, emission reduction and technological transformation. He used CFX software to compare multiple plans, measure and verify the data in the numerical study of the temperature field inside the cracking furnace, winning praise from other experts in China. The software package he developed for the quench boiler system and the combustion system beat international prestigious rivals and is used at the large-sized 100,000-ton cracking furnace of Yanshan Petrochemical, two one-million-ton ethylene projects in Tianjin and Zhenhai, the 800,000-ton ethylene project in Wuhan and the one-million-ton ethylene project in Huizhou.
In recent years, Li has undertaken one national science and technology support project, one NDRC project, and 15 major research projects and "Ten Dragons" projects of Sinopec; won 11 national and provincial/ministerial science and technology progress awards; obtained eight invention patents and 36 patents of utility model.
The Hou Debang Chemical Industry Science and Technology Award, founded in 1998, is set to acknowledge Hou's pioneering contribution to the chemical industry and the development of chemical science and technology, and encourage and recognize future generations. Li Jinke and other 40 outstanding chemical professionals shared achievement awards, innovation awards, and youth awards of this year.
