On March 14, Changyi Petrochemical successfully produced 4,500 tons of 98-octane motor gasoline (V), which is currently the highest level of motor gasoline in the country, indicating that it has become ChemChina’s first refinery enterprise that is capable of producing top-level gasoline.
In order to optimize the product structure, Changyi Petrochemical established oil blending research group. With the production of top refine oil as development goals and through operation optimization, following the 92-octane (Beijing VI) gasoline which captured market shares successfully, Changyi Petrochemical successfully produced 98-octane (V) gasoline for the first time, marking an important step of Changyi in the high-end oil production as well as creating favorable conditions for opening the domestic high-end oil market.
98-octane vehicle gasoline (V) is at the highest level after the implementation of the new National Standards. Known as "super gasoline", It is mainly used for limousines and sports cars. Due to the requirements of sulfur content less than 10ppm and strict limits on aromatics, olefins and oxygen contents, it is extremely difficult to be produced and its technical process is complex. Compared with other gasoline, 98-octane gasoline has three main advantages: 98-octane gasoline (V) can provide better sense of power, i.e. better power performance; lower fuel consumption (improved fuel economy); reduced olefins can abate photochemical pollution caused by evaporative emission as well as the coking and deposition in engine air intake system to improve the performance of the engine.
