Recently, the 63.5" vulcanizing machine, one of Guilin Rubber Machinery's leading products, has adopted a brand-new transport package with fewer consumables after months of optimization and design by the research team. In the future, these vulcanizers will be able to travel with a light pack and go green when they leave the factory.
In Guilin Rubber Machinery, tire vulcanizers are bulky and have many accessories. For a long time, wooden packaging boxes have been used for transport packaging, which consumes a large amount of wood resources. In response to the short delivery time and large supply of tire vulcanizing products for domestic customers, in February 2018, Guilin Rubber Machinery launched a package optimization and improvement project aimed at designing a green lean packaging to meet the requirements of both transport packaging and reduction of resources loss.
(Before packaging improvement)
To this end, the company set up a dedicated design and research group to conduct the improvement trial for the largest 63.5” vulcanizing machine. After research, the research team found that the existing domestic packaging structure of tire vulcanizing machines is based on export packaging. It is necessary for export shipping with poor transportation conditions, but, for domestic short-distance flat roads taking less time, the original plan is too complicated and uses excessive packaging (except for special requirements). Therefore, it is possible to simplify packaging and reduce resources consumption. The research team further analyzed the proportion of various packaging consumables, conducted non-essential investigations, and finally determined optimization points such as fixing methods, lifting, and box design.
(After packaging improvement)
After optimization and design, the base package of equipment has eliminated steel pallets and wooden cabinets, and are used to directly lift the equipment. The beam packaging has been changed to a newly designed simple steel pallet used to hoisting the equipment and removed the wooden box. In addition, multiple copies of wallboards share a tray. The redesigned wallboard packaging box reduces the package size and weight and improves the lifting method. The redesigned packing box for tire-mounting structures is appropriately enlarged to accommodate the connecting rod. The diagonal-brace square timber of the prefabricated fan is reduced in size and the scattered parts are loaded into this box to prevent loss.
In the end, through a series of packaging improvements, the consumption of the 63.5" vulcanizer packaging box has been reduced by 46.79%, seeing a significant reduction.
