The Membrane Industry Association of China has recently announced the result of its Science and Technology Progress Award of 2017. The high-performance panel nanofiltration and reverse osmosis compound membrane research and massive production project of Hangzhou Water Treatment Technology Research Center Co., Ltd. won first prize.
The project aims to make a breakthrough in the development and massive production of RO membrane for the desalination of seawater and high-performance nanofiltration component. Adopting advanced analysis technology and bringing in an advanced compound membrane production line from abroad, it achieves real-time compound membrane monitoring and product quality control. With the first automated coil membrane production line in China, independently developed and designed, the project greatly boosts the quality and the finishing rate of membrane components. With the project put into application, Hangzhou Water Treatment succeeded in developing the compound membrane for high-performance nanofiltration and reverse osmosis, establishing one such production line with a finishing rate of 95%. The compound membrane delivers approximately the same removal rate as other products of its kind from home or abroad and can be used widely for the desalination of seawater and brackish water with high salt content and for deep purification of micro-polluted water. Moreover, it is more affordable than imported similar products.
