After nearly two years of efforts, the industrialization project of PSH-50 PVC paste resin product undertaken by Shenyang Chemical successfully passed the acceptance of Shenyang Center for Innovation, R&D, and Commercialization of Major Technologies (SCIRDCMT). The product started to be put into industrialized production.
PSH-50 PVC paste resin, a self-developed product of Shenyang Chemical, has been patented. In 2016, the product industrialization project was included in the science and technology development plan by Shenyang Municipal Government and supported with one million yuan of government funds. In 2017, the project was also incorporated into Shenyang’s “Double Hundred Project” and became an R&D project of major technology, which received an additional one million yuan of government funds. In September 2018, SCIRDCMT organized experts to make a special trip to Shenyang Chemical for the review and acceptance of the project. During this period, the company’s Deputy Chief Engineer Ma Jing and other project leaders introduced in detail the important significance, R&D process, and market prospect of the product. After examination, the expert panel recently issued the determination result that the project has completed the research content and verification index stipulated in the contract, passed the acceptance, and can be industrialized.
Although we can directly use the existing micro-suspension polymerization process of Shenyang Chemical in producing PSH-50 PVC paste resin, many difficulties still exist in the R&D, especially in the trial production, such as challenging feeding, unstable polymerization control, and demulsification of polymer latex during spray drying. In this context, the company’s researchers have repeatedly studied and simulated the industrial production conditions in the small and pilot tests to finally find out the crux of the problem and deal with related difficulties.
In developing this product, Shenyang Chemical’s researchers have also made many innovations, among which the company’s unique composite emulsification system can effectively guarantee the paste viscosity, degasifiability, and transparency of the product. The production process is stable, easy to control, and convenient for industrial production by finding out the compound ratio. The distinctive buffer system can improve the thermal stability of the paste resin and ensure the high transparency and non-discoloration of its downstream products during the processing and use.
PSH-50 PVC paste resin is mainly used in the production of latex gloves and other downstream products. Compared with other brand products, this product has excellent performance and can reduce plasticizing temperature and time, cut production cost, and increase glove yield under the same plasticizing conditions. According to expert verification, this product developed by Shenyang Chemical has reached the international technical level of equivalent products, filling the domestic gap. With the industrial production of this product, it will play a positive role in promoting the overall development of China’s PVC paste resin industry.
