On May 14, a branch of the National Engineering and Technology Research Center for Development and Utilization of Phosphorus Resources (the Center) was officially established at Chonfar. Representatives of Yunnan Phosphate Group Co., Ltd. (YPC) and Chonfar signed relevant technical agreements and unveiled the branch.
YPC is China’s largest modern open-pit phosphate mining and chemical production enterprise, based on which the National Engineering and Technology Research Center for Development and Utilization of Phosphorus Resources is established. As the first state-level research center in the field, it specializes in the research and development of engineering-based new technologies, processes, equipment and products (such as efficient and safe new process for phosphate mining, phosphate mine dressing process and flotation reagent synthesis technology, new phosphorus chemical and phosphate materials and comprehensive utilization of waste) with independent intellectual property rights, in an effort to boost the technical progress and sustainable development of China's phosphate mines and chemicals.
Chonfar has rich experience in the engineering design and construction in the underground phosphate mining field. In particular, it is in a leading position in green and intelligent mine construction, tape lifting and transportation in underground mines, trackless mining, mine backfilling and groundwater improvement. It is an engineering technical service-oriented enterprise integrating with scientific research, exploration, design, consulting, supervision and general contractor.
The establishment of the branch at Chonfar will help enhance its long-term all-round cooperation with YPC, comprehensively conduct talent exchange and cultivation, continuously push forward scientific and technical project application and platform construction, complement each other’s advantages in technology and resource and promote the technical advancement and sustainable development in the field of phosphorus resources of China.
