The award ceremony of the Central Enterprise Shining Star Innovation Contest 2018 was held in Beijing recently. Elkem Silicones, one of Bluestar’s overseas enterprises, won the Excellence Award for Innovative Project with its “Application and Development of Silicone 3D Printing in Medical Care”.
3D printing is one of China’s national key development fields. At present, 3D printing materials in the market are mainly metal and plastic. Silicone materials serving as elastomer materials have outstanding advantages of high and low-temperature resistance, ultraviolet resistance, long-term aging resistance, and good biocompatibility. Therefore, 3D printing silicone material has a very wide application prospect. It not only can be used in the medical field to create new applications in medical care but also can be applied in other fields such as automobile, buildings, and intelligent robots, producing great economic and social benefits.
As the world’s leading silicone supplier, Elkem Silicones boasts more than six decades of R&D and production experience. It has been committed to providing customized silicone solutions for energy, transportation, construction, health, personal care, electronics, and other fields.
The Shining Star Innovation Competition was launched in September 2018. A total of 2,658 projects participated in the competition. Finally, 200 projects stood out, winning corresponding awards. This award further demonstrated the achievements of Elkem Silicones in the field of silicone 3D printing technology. The company will continue to create new technologies, extensively push forward the project, and keep developing new silicone 3D printing technologies, in a bid to meet the goal of “Elkem Silicones, Print a New Life” as soon as possible.
